This weekend my mom was in town visiting and we had an action-packed few days filled with adventure! I am so happy to have been able to spend time with her and I miss her already!
On Thursday night, we went downtown Huntington Beach to a new Mexican Restaurant called Ola Mexican Kitchen. We sat outside looking out to the ocean, drank some skinny margaritas, ate some delicious tacos and ate way too many chips.
Friday morning we woke up early to catch an 8am boat ride over to Catalina Island where we spent the day doing a difficult but beautiful 8 mile hike. The views were incredible.
The end of the hike took us to the Botanical Gardens which had some of the most amazing cactus I have ever seen!
After our 2.5 hour hike, we ate some yummy salads at the Avalon Grill. After lunch, since we were so exhausted from our hike, we decided to rent a golf cart and drive along the scenic route to see more of the island – it was so much fun!
We finished the day with some more delicious salads at California Pizza Kitchen in Huntington Beach before going to bed and getting some much needed rest.
The next morning we went to an 8am yoga sculpt class. It was so fun being able to do yoga with my mom again! After yoga, we drove up to Santa Monica to see the Pier since we had both never been there before. We walked around the area and stopped for some food at The Hive where I had the most delicious Acai Bowl ever.
Once we had seen enough of Santa Monica, we decided to drive through Beverly Hills and drive along Mulholland Drive to see all the amazing mansions! It was such a cool drive. We stopped a few times at the overlooks to snap some photos too.
We ended the day with dinner at Stacked in Huntington Beach where we had some more skinny margaritas, chips and salsa and guac, and a delicious gluten-free margherita pizza!
Sunday morning, we went to a 6:45am yoga class before my mom had to head back home to Minnesota. It was such a fun-filled few days with her and I’m so glad that she was able to come out and visit me. I can’t wait to see her again on our trip to Sedona, Arizona – stay tuned!
